| Abstract: | This paper provides a synthesis of the contemporary debate on the environmental and social impacts of multinational corporations' (MNC's) operations in less developed countries (LDCs). Four underlying themes are identified within the debate. Each theme encapsulates some of the major changes facing MNCs and other stakeholders in the pursuit of sustainable development, as illustrated by reference to a number of relevant cases. The paper concludes with recommendations both internal and external to the MNC to advance sustainable business practice in LDCs. |
