Abstract:This paper provides empirical support for Warr's Vitamin Model by testing it comprehensively using structural equation modelling. It was hypothesized that three crucial job characteristics - job demands, job autonomy, and workplace social support - are curvilinearly related with three key aspects of job-related well being: job satisfaction, job-related anxiety, and emotional exhaustion. Different job characteristics are more or less important in relation to different aspects of employee well-being.
