Abstract: | Imagine that one of the managers in your company´s finance department, a highly skilled and experienced person, gets caught up in the managerial equivalent of scut work for example, running spreadsheet analyses, answering questions from accountants and putting out operational fires. In a bad week, he might spend up to 75 percent of his time on routine, low-lewel activities rather than high-level, strategic work. And the company is paying him the equivalent of 40 dollar an hour to do work that could be done by someone earning 10 dollar. |
