| Abstract: | After redirecting their economies away from central planning to open-market systems during the past decade, economic policy makers in the transforming economies of Central Europe (CE) are now preparing for accession to full membership in the European Union. Among other preparatory tasks for integration with the European Union, these economies need to achieve a high degree of economic stability, including stability of their currencies. |
