| Abstract: | The structure of food retailing in the Baltic countries has been significantly altered by liberalization and privatization in the transition from central planning to market economy. The Baltics have rapidly embraced western-style supermarkets, hypermarkets and discount chain stores (outlets). Many European retail chains have invested in the Baltic retail market. There is information on numbers and changes in the numbers of food retail outlets 1990-1999 of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. |
