Abstract:This study examines potential antecedents (hereafter as: antcds.) of consumer relative preference for interpersonal (here as: intpl.) information (here as: info.) search. The proposed antcds. include personality traits such as a. individuals' susceptibility to intpl. influence, their b. need for cognition and c. self-confidence, as well as d. individual differences in product knowledge and e. perceived risk associated with the purchase of a specific product. Using structural equation modelling on survey data (419 respondents), seven hypotheses are tested. The results indicate among others that consumer relative preference for intpl. info. search was significantly influenced by a., b., c., and d.
