| Abstract: | This article provides a model to examine patent-protected R&D investment projects when there is competition in the development and marketing of the resulting product. The competitive interactions make the problem and the solution more complex because the decision maker has to consider also the factors that affect the decisions of the other investors. The framework is extended to incorporate the game theoretic concepts required to deal the competitive interactions. |
