| Abstract: | In this paper, causal relationships between planning and performance are investigated. A longitudinal database is utilized with responses from appr. 3.000 businesses over a 4-year period. The results confirm the association btw. planning activity and performance. It is also indicated that planning is more likely to be introduced into a small firm after a period of growth rather than before it. |
