Abstract: | This paper explores the complexities of Special Interest Tourism (SIT) in the early 21st century. A discussion of the SIT phenomenon is presented at the macro-level within a triangular relationship of demand, supply and media. In addition, there is a more specific look at SIT attempting to clarify the term's ambiguity. Finally, a look at micro-level from the consumer's perspective introduces the concepts of enduring and situational involvement, and the nature of the product. |
