Abstract:This study assesses the impact of social class (hereafter as: soc-cls.) and local context on individual (as: indv.) vote in Britain btw. 1964 and 1997. There is no evidence found for a process of individualization of the voter. The findings suggest that both indv. and contextual soc-cls. effects on vote have remained fairly stable over time. In addition, although there is found an increase in the impact of campaign spending over time, this increase was similar among all social classes.
