Abstract: | The author concentrates on unreflexive practices in work settings in order to make noticeable the subtle and seldom acknowlegded aspects of gendering dynamics. It is argued that people in powerful positions routinely practice gender without being reflexive about it. It is also shown how the qualities of practising, such as directionality, impermanence, rapidity, immediacy and indetermination, influence both men and women in unexpected and often harmful ways. |
