Abstract: | The authors construct a framework of international human resource management (IHRM). The model concentrates on IHRM policies and processes instead of structures and strategies. Six case studies made in German multinational corporations are presented and the results show how there is various combinations of IHRM policies and strategies in three different countries. Knowledge flows between countries seem to vary in terms of their intensity, content, direction and mechanisms used. The authors identify four types of IHRM, of which one type is the hitherto neglected cognofederate IHRM. |
