Abstract: | The article discusses the derivatives of money and goods that promote three types of tradersÂ’ activities: hedgers, speculators, and arbitrageurs, and it concentrates on traders themselves. The motives, objectives and behaviours of all types of traders in the derivatives markets are examined in detail. Especially for hedgers and speculators the main concern of trading is risk. The article aims to answer different questions regarding risk by considering accounts by and of traders, and by examining the few ethnographic researches concerning traders. The world of high finance and its inhabitants seem other to the pedestrian actors, as they do to the traders dealing with risk. This is why the authors try to resurrect tales of the actors dealing with mysterious risk, so that the pedestrian actors could see what living in the world of high finance is like. |
