| Abstract: | This paper studies the impact of the separation of ownership and control by dominant shareholders on company value. The aim of the authors is two offer two major innovations for researchers. First, to free the researcher from having to make an ad hoc judgement call regarding which companies feature entrenched owners and which dont. Secondly, to develop a market-based estimate of the critical level of power at which the main shareholder becomes entrenched. |
