Abstract:The paper studies external drivers and internal resources of the firm that are required for maintaining the firm's competitive advantage. Market- and resource based views are reviewed and the role of buyer is analysed through a value chain framework. The article focuses on the particular resources and capabilities that contribute to innovation and draws the examples form the video game industry. It examines fast-changing technologies, markets and resources that are affecting on the rising buyer and innovation demands.
