Abstract:The study discusses the use of central place theory to understand why sport event-tourism is more econmically succesful in some places than others. The author analyses the economic impacts generated by a tournament co-hosted by two adjecent countries in different states. The study comes to the conclusion that the smaller country experiences an exercutionist effect even tough the majority of the activities are held there. The larger country receives nearly a double economic effect compared to the smaller one. Daniels also discusses local economic regions and cooperative branding.
