Abstract: | This paper concentrates on frame conflicts in workplace interactions and their part in the sociodiscursive reproduction of social inequality. The author specifically examines the frame conflicts that come up when customers mobilize local discursive patterns, conversational topics and code-switching. The author examines how these less professional ways of communicating struggle when matched with depersonalized and institutional style of professional communicating. The author bases his research on recorded employee/customer interviews that are recorded in a enterprise that supplies water, sewage treatment and waste collection in a borough in Spain. |
