Abstract:Using auction data from the eBay internet auctioneer, this study analyses how a number of factors influence on the amount of bids and selling price of art. Drawing from an insight in the literature, the authors aim to collect evidence about the use purposes of the art obtained from eBay. The results show that the number of bids is positively related to the price, which suggest that the art purchased on eBay is generally for consumption purposes.
