| Abstract: | In this article the authors add to the previous literature of restructuring in the transition economies of Central and Eastern Europe the analysis of productivity-growth impacts for different channels of restructuring. The authors study panel of 737 voucher-privatized Czech companies during the first years after the transfer of ownership (1993 to 1998). The findings suggest that labour shedding, CEO replacements and capital expenditures, are not remarkably correlated to productivity growth. In addition they found that bank loans are positively related with productivity in the case of more profitable firms, but not for less profitable ones. |
