Abstract:This paper reports on research which explored technology adoption among physicians. It provides a new and empirically tested theoretical model of physician resistance of healthcare information technology (hereafter as HIT) usage. The model is based on integration of the technology acceptance and resistance to change literatures and it was field-tested in a survey of 129 practicing physicians at a large acute-care hospital. The findings remind about the problem of user resistance in technology usage, therefore the model has significant implications for organizational managers responsible for HIT implementation.
