Abstract:The purpose of this article is to find out if the top management team's strategic vision and the ways teamworkers are rewarded and assessed have an impact on the innovation performance of firms. The study is based on a sample of 97 Spanish companies operating in three innovative sectors. The findings of the study suggest that in addition to the top management's strategic vision, innovation performance necessitates compensation practices developed by project teams. However, no evidence of assessment practices themselves affecting firms' innovation performance was found.
