Abstract:This exploratory study focuses on environmental performance indicators (hereafter as EPIs). The authors analyze the importance of measurement and use of EPIs paying particular attention to firm characteristics. The case study is based on data from a survey with a random sample of 1500 Canadian manufacturing firms. The study identifies four different uses of EPIs. It also documents, that the different firm characteristics are related to the global use and specific use of EPIs.
