Abstract: | This paper uses Tenerife, a part of Canary Islands belonging to Spain, as a case study to examine the continuous change in island destinations. The study combines a tourism area life cycle model and a teleological model in order to gain better understanding about the development of sustainability in a geographically limited tourism destination. Particular attention is paid to strategic decisions made in the regional government level and the island level. |
