| Abstract: | The study examines the outward foreign direct investment of Icelandic firms. The aim is to demonstrate how Icelandic companies have invested abroad through foreign direct investments and to describe the key characteristics of Icelandic multinational corporations (MNCs) to gain a deeper understanding of the internationalization processes of firms with a small domestic base. The findings reveal that the market in Iceland is not large enough for medium and large companies operating in the global environment which is supported by the low outflow of FDI from Iceland during last century. |
