Abstract: | Nowadays, required are new leaders who are able to confront a reality based on knowledge and to foster innovation in order to achieve organizational performance (henceforth as: o-p.) improvements. Yet, due to organizations' limited understanding of the relationships btw. strategic variables (herein as: str-vars.), they may fail to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. In this paper, it is analysed theoretically and empirically how the leader's perceptions of different intermediate str-vars. related to knowledge (i.e. knowledge slack, absorptive capacity, tacitness, organizational learning) and innovation influence the relation btw. transformational leadership and o-p. A theoretical model is developed, showing the interrelations btw. the str-vars. Based on data from more than 400 Spanish organizations, the model is tested. |
