Abstract:In Quebec - like in many other countries and regions - small manufacturing firms have been creating jobs in the years of crisis and reducing the impact of it. Local entrepreneurship has been developing and induced significant structural diversifications. Small firms thus constituted a strong basis for local development. The basic reason of the astonishing vitality of small and medium-sized firms is their flexibility. Besides,as analyses show, they have a higher rentability than larger companies, can easier resist to the rapid market changes and develop at higher growth rates.
