| Abstract: | A review of how German multinational investments, i.e. horizontal investments with the establishment and development of integrated markets promoted the rationalisation of operations and encouraged German firms to obtain economies of scale through the international division of production. The review covers export growth, investment abroad, direct investment flows and strategies. The authors indicate that such outward looking strategies will continue to intensify world competition. |
