Abstract: | The public-affairs staff at many U. S. corporation increased in number in the 1980s. Reasons on why this growth took place are set forth. Special regard is given to the unsettled economic times and the political issues affecting business. The number of permanent public-affairs staff in firms of nine metropolitan areas as well as the number of full-time public-affairs staff in nine industry groupings are exhibited. |
