Abstract:The assessment of invention performance by country revealed that non-US countries as a whole have increased their share in patenting on the US market significantly in all fields of technology, including high technology fields. Among six foreign countries considered, the United Kingdom's performance was closest to that of the United States. Japan and West Germany have been the most successful of the foreign countries. Other countries have caught up to the United States regarding inventive capability.
