Abstract:Although both heavily indebted to the USA, France and Germany have developed quite different approaches to management education. After having compared the differences of the German"scientific" and French "intellectual" approaches, their consequences for management in each country are examined. The acquisition of knowledge, and motivation are measured to assess the effectiveness of the German and the French management education systems. The question is answered which system, the German or the French, is better in educating future managers in competencies needed in work. Later it is analysed whether company management practice can make more use of academic research.
