Abstract: | In airline reservations systems, booking limits are placed on the number of seats available in each different fare class or booking class on the same flight, which can contain several fare products, allowing airlines to increase revenues. Effective application of fare class booking limits allows airlines to generate incremental revenues without incurring corresponding increases in operating costs. One model and its implementation are described. The model developed for this application is the expected marginal seat revenue model. The automated booking system limit and a revenue impact tests on a sample of actual flights, showing a significant revenue improvement, are also described. |
