Abstract: | Investors have demonstrated their ability to influence the outcome of a takeover bid and to impact corporate planning. As a result, companies must learn as much as possible about their shareholders and analyze decisions with a view to their real or perceived impact on stockholders. In the current marketplace, where investors are more interested in speculative control plays and short-term gain, every corporation has reason to be concerned. Companies are less vulnerable to surprise takeover moves when they have developed the habit of never overlooking the market implications of their business decisions. |
