| Abstract: | The uses of joint ventures are reviewed. Difference is made among internal, competitive,strategic and diversification uses. Division of joint-venture ownership and owners' perspectives are treated. It is foreseen that one-on-one competition will be replaced by competition among constellations of companies. Some formulas for successful alliances are detailed. Trial marriages,representation on boards of directors,provision and rotation of personnel from sponsoring firms,review points,and divorce clauses are proposed to include within the control mechanisms of agreements between partners. |
