| Abstract: | Manager's attention is called to revolutionize their approach to materials. They should establish a policy of buying on the basis of total costs; staff supply management with more professional and technical talent; select best-in-class suppliers; become involved with the process of supply management; stimulate improvement. The ideal team of supply management is suggested as consisting of engineering, purchasing, supplier quality assurance, and the supplier. Cost reduction tools and several discipline interacting together to reduce manufacturing cycle time are listed. |
