Abstract:The authors meta-analyzed studies reporting relationship between job and life-satisfaction and found a sizable overlap between work and nonwork experiences and a correlation substantially greater for men than women. They suggest as explanation for the larger correlation observed for women in more recent studies demographic changes among female workers and changes in the relative importance of work to women's lives.
