Abstract:The term "transaction risk" refers to the observation, that many contracts between a firm and consumers cannot be carried out as originally planned: consumers require more or less extensive personal commitment when making their choice in the shop, some consumers finally ask for price reductions, others later come back in order to exchange the merchandise. All this indicates a considerable variation of costs over transactions. To avoid the corresponding risks, the firm should establish appropriate design to select transactions and to control the processing of transactions. A framework for analyzing such transaction risks is presented and empirical evaluation of the concepts outlined.
