Abstract:An effort initiated by the technical staff within the Du Pont Imaging Systems and Electronics departments is described. This effort is aimed at improving effectiveness and technical excellence and, at the same time, take a more proactive role in improving the organization in which they work. One way to bring about the desired change would be to increase technical staff participation in all aspects of the technical function and enable them to exercise greater control over all aspects of their technical programs as well as over their careers. In addition, management was interested in reducing the layers of management in order to improve communications and decision-making.
