| Abstract: | Certain convergence is demonstrated between theories of innovation and organization theory. As an example the case of biotechnologies of vegetables is described and analyzed. It is shown how the evolution of economic environment is generating vertical integration and organizational networks. Some examples of horizontal coordination are also mentioned (BRIDGE , EUREKA, ECLAIR). The internalization of research activities is examined. The cooperation and contractual relationships between decentralized organizations are investigated. Arguments are provided that organized markets play an important role in the development of new technologies. |
