Abstract:The accession of Greece to the EC(9) in 1981, a middle income developing country forming customs union with high income developed economies predictably should cause trade diverting and trade creation. To what extent did it materialize is the question the article tries to answer. Trade diversion is explained by changes in relative prices , deterioration in the benefits of GSP , structural changes in EC agriculture and other exogenous changes.
