| Abstract: | Filing for bankruptcy has been the death knell for one in ten businesses. But it does not have to be. The concept of the prepackaged chapter 11 bankruptcy as a strategic business-restructuring device is explored and a walk-through of how the process works is provided. Case studies of two actual prepackaged reorganizations illustrate how prepackaged reorganizations worked in real business situations. It is shown that the prepackaged reorganization helps companies emerge with a minimum of the adverse effects of chapter 11 bankruptcies. |
