Abstract: | Heidra, Lowenberg and Mallick (1988) claim that the New Institutional Economics is superior to Marxism, because the former adheres to methodological individualism rather than to functionalism. The present author does not accept this: in his opinion the two approaches are not distinguished by methodology and methodological individualism is not always to be preferred to functionalism. |
