| Abstract: | "What will it cost to provide my company with an EDP system?" This question can be answered comprehensively if a strategic concept of implementation of modern information technology is developed. Using this concept it will be feasible to indicate how the information technology can be utilized as a rationalization aid (aiming at cost-reduction) and as a strategic weapon for increasing the competitive strength (improved profitability). A framework for a detailed cost/benefit analysis is presented. The prospective importance of information technology in companies is highlighted. The role of management in defining an information strategy is examined. |
