Abstract:According to a survey released by BIS Mackintosh, world demand for CDs will be 650 million units worth $10 billion in 1989. In Japan more than 20% of homes have CD player, while in Europe and in the U.S. less than 15% own CD players. But CDs have overtaken vinyl records in value in both markets. The overall CD pricing trend is down, mainly because of more budget-priced repertoire being released mainly in the US.
