Abstract:HMV Group, the retail division of Thorn EMI is to open huge music/video combo stores in the U.S. mainly in the Northeast. Earlier this year an HMV rival W.H. Smith set up shop in the U.S. HMV has 130 outlets worldwide, but it's best known for its huge superstores, which offer full-line inventories in elaborate retail environments.
