Abstract:Companies as diverse as AT and T, Exxon, and Beech-Nut have discovered that when a crisis occurs, there are rarely any contingency plans designed well enough to effectively deal with the situation. The case study of the Perrier crisis is given. It is shown that a better job by the company's crisis management team could have saved both the company's and the product's reputation. The main mistakes are analyzed. The structural breakdowns of Perrier's management are described, and the way of their prevention is provided.
