Abstract:Preventive techniques of turnaround situations are discussed. Literature about the topic is reviewed. The focus is on the financial aspects of the problem. Traditional accounting ratios are criticized, weaknesses are highlighted. Examples are presented of some of the problems associated with the operational use of company failure prediction models. A new methodology is introduced. The emphasis is on understanding specific dimensions which characterize individual financial ratios. Discriminant analysis is discussed. Benefits are summarized. Problems of model building are examined. Managerial implications are summarized.
