Abstract:It is examined whether the entropy measure of the information contained in logit functions offers comparable results if used in an ex ante rather than in an ex post manner. The ex post method of application assumes that the user of the predictive logit functions knows when the potentially failed firms are going to fail. The conclusions drawn from such a premise could clearly be misleading. Using logistic analysis it is also examined which financial variables are related to the failure of large UK enterprises over the period 1976-1984.
