| Abstract: | The overall rental market is declining. There is a trend away from renting towards buying TVs and VCRs, as a result of increasing reliability and falling prices. Consumer spending on TV and video rental remained similar to the previous year's figure. Detailed statistics on ownership and use of TVs, consumer spending, sales, market size, profile of hirers of video tapes, themes of hired tapes, the structure of TV and video hire outlets, price indices of TV and video rental and brown goods purchase and advertising expenditures are presented. |
