Abstract:Household penetration of rented main television sets currently stands at 14% according to TGI, within a total penetration of 96%. This represents a fall from 1990, when rental penetration was 23% within a similar total. The corresponding current figures for VCRs are 9% renting within a total penetration of 84%. Again, this is a fall from 1990 when rental represented 14% within a total of 70%. Rental of satellite receivers/dishes has fallen, from representing 20-25% of the universe of satellite television subscribers in 1991 to only 4% currently.
