Abstract: | In the fight for the region's television audiences, the satellite giants are meeting tough resistance. International satellite television would invade Asia, we were told. It would be Armageddon for local broadcasters - told in English. It hasn't happened. Instead of surrendering , local television has hit back. Local networks in every country in the region boast larger audiences than the international operators. In India, for example, cable and satellite reach a little more than 15 million homes by some counts. |
